Customize your bike to make it really “Yours”

The bike’s customization nowadays when you can get only industrial, or better, globalized products seems impossible.

In the standardised world the original concept of arts, craftsmanship and creativity has dramatically lost importance … but HERSH is different as we have always worked on customization and personalization and today we want to present something really magical and innovative: the immersion printing!

But let’s start from the beginning…

While riding with a dear customer on the wonderful Como Lake in an Autum morning, we started thinking how his next bike would have been, how it could have been different and astonishing…

Leaves were falling on the road , the wonderful Autumn colours were wrapping the lake, our emotions and thoughts… and if we make a bike with a leaves graphic?

What did HERSH answer?  Yes! Let’s take an image and “put it on the frame”... but how can we do it and protect it from the water and all the dirt?

We went on riding… but all we could think about was how can we imprint something on the carbon frame in a definitive way?

So we decided to start with the first projects and prototypes.

the first drafts for the customization with the leaves printing.

We took an MTB frame, we immersion printed the front  part and created a gradient effect in black colour as if the wind blew away the leaves from the frame.

The result was amazing and the result can be checked out here https://www.hersh.it/it/catalogo/mtb/mtb-full-carbonio-rush-limited-edition-shimano-xt-1×12/

Next challenge: the customization of Silvia’s bike.

So we decided to propose our result to another customer: Silvia, who asked us something again different… she would like a younger, more cheerful effect, in her style. Silvia loves her bike, superheroes and comics. She would like… a comics effect!

So here the beginning:

The development…

The final result…

What do you think about it? What kind of ideas do you have? Would you like to work on your ideas together with us?

But what is immersion printing and where does it come from?

“Water transfer printing, also known as immersion printing, water transfer imaging, hydro dipping, watermarbling, cubic printing, Hydrographics, or HydroGraphics, is a method of applying printed designs to three-dimensional surfaces. The resulting combinations may be considered decorative art or applied art. The hydrographic process can be used on metal, plastic, glass, hard woods, and various other materials”. The exact origin of the water transfer printing process is unclear. However, the first hydrographic apparatus registered for a US patent was by Motoyasu Nakanishi of Cubic Engineering KK on July 26, 1982
